Puerto Vallarta is one of Mexico’s most beautiful tourist destinations. This tropical paradise is the setting for an in-depth study of the art of dance in both the precise technique of ballet, and the freedom of contemporary dance, conducted by the most prestigious of dance masters.
The University of the Arts is a developing project, supported by the UDG (Universidad de Guadalajara) and the municipal government of Puerto Vallarta (H.Ayuntamiento Municipal de Puerto Vallarta), seeking to support the training and education of young artists, enabling them to pursue professional careers in productions at the highest international level. The project, enriched by the multitude of attractions offered in this beautiful paradise, is open to both Mexican and International students.
One of the main objectives in this FIRST INTERNATIONAL SUMMER COURSE OF CLASSICAL BALLET AND CONTEMPORARY DANCE is to introduce ”BEAMISH BODYMIND BALANCING” to teachers, students and professional dancers alike. This technique has been developed and used by international master teacher and ballet coach Philip Beamish for over the past 25 years.
The method is designed to develop both the muscle structure and awareness necessary to facilitate and strengthen any dance technique. The results obtained are rapid and often spectacular, both physically and mentally. The focus is on connecting the body and mind by stimulating and activating specific points of the body during movement, which in turn unblock rigid muscle chains, promote concentration, and elevate the spirit permitting the flow of completely natural movement through the ‘Body-Mind Connection’. Joint articulations reach their maximum flexibility and force; health, self esteem and greater balance are all enhanced. The same benefits can also be obtained by ‘Non Dancers’ or anyone interested in maintaining a balanced healthy body and mind. The University Of Performing Arts of Puerto Vallarta intends to use this method as a base for all its training programs.
The other important objective of the course is to create, in Mexico, the unique opportunity for dancers to to learn from world class teachers, all of whom are carefully selected for their high technical and artistic quality in the world dance panorama today.
